Top Dog Lacrosse Summer Travel Team

Top Dog Lacrosse Travel Team Update

In 2010, I started Top Dog Lacrosse Travel Teams to provide the following in a relaxed, supportive and fun environment:

  • Opportunities for Capital District players to experience a college experience - practicing on a university campus, with college coaches running drills in a run and gun play style that I believe brings the best out of players and game
  • Opportunities to play in tournaments in which coaches from all levels attended to recruit
  • Opportunities to play and develop relationships with players from other programs
  • Local players with high level, unbiased coaching and assistance in the recruiting process when asked

In 2013 Top Dog Lacrosse merged with United Lacrosse allowing us to expand our teams, attendance at new tournaments and be part of a larger organization. Our experience with United has been positive for all involved and we thank all the families who transitioned with us from Top Dog to United and hope they enjoyed the run!  I also appreciate the energy and efforts of United Lacrosse’s Steve Carcaterra and his staff over the years to support United Team Albany and Top Dog Lacrosse will continue to play in Capital District United run events.

This year I decided that bigger is not always better and the Top Dog Lacrosse Program would be better served as its own entity; therefore, I will be separating from United Lacrosse and resuming sole leadership of our program effective fall 2016 and playing under our original Top Dog label. Players will not be affected by our changes. Our overall program at the University at Albany will continue to meet the objectives previously mentioned. My University at Albany lacrosse staff will continue to head up instruction, supported by selected area coaches who believe in our philosophy of play and keep all aspects of the game positive. As parents, I hope you will see improvements in the consistency and timeliness of all aspects of communication, and find there is a stronger and more direct connection to our program. Additionally, I plan to keep all fall and summer travel reasonable so that families have time for lacrosse and family!
